Well Water Filter Systems - Choosing The Right Filtration System

Many homeowners use well water as their main source of water. Nitrate is a naturally occurring form of nitrogen and very essential for plant growth and therefore is often added to improve soil productivity. The water that moves through the soil after rainfall or irrigation carries dissolved nitrates with it as they are very mobile in water. But drinking water that is high in Nitrates is potentially dangerous to human beings and animals and need a special filter.

The CuZn Nitrate Water Filter uses Cation Resin filters which not only remove nitrates but also calcium and magnesium hardness from the water. Since Nitrates are tasteless and odorless the water has to be chemically tested. If the results are positive then a few of the filter choices you have are as follows:

CuZn™ White Dual Housing Nitrate and Copper-Zinc/Coconut Shell Carbon Filter with Spout

CuZn™ Chrome Dual Housing Nitrate and Copper-Zinc/Coconut Shell Carbon Filter with Spout

CuZn’s Double Cartridge Countertop Water Filters are compatible with any home or office sink. This system will is very effective in removing or reducing chlorine, sediment, algae, molds, scale, bad taste, odors, and other undesirable contaminants that may affect the quality of your well water supply.

Similar is CuZn’s Refillable Well Water Undersink Nitrate Filter. However it is fitted under the sink.

Eric Watson is the founder of Aquatic Filter systems. He came up with a specialized well water filtration system and named it “The Wellguru” in 1987. He has constantly upgraded his system. Reverse Osmosis is considered the most effective way to filter drinking and cooking water. It requires virtually no maintenance. But you should never use a whole home Reverse Osmosis system on a well unless there is salt water in your report as it could ruin the plumbing due to alkaline properties. The best option is the Wellguru for well water for the whole house with a compact Reverse Osmosis system for drinking and cooking water. It can handle big amounts of iron, sulfur, calcium, magnesium, lime and many other contaminants. The resulting water is soft and conditioned. It also removes sulfur odor from the water. Some of the benefits of using this system:

  • No need to buy bottled water.
  • Softer skin and manageable hair
  • Longer lasting clothes due to soft water
  • Shower stalls and curtains will stain less with less soap scum and water rings
  • Better for cooking

It is important to make sure you are using the right system to purify the water if your main source of water supply is a well. If the water is not treated there are biological hazards involved. The first step is to get the water tested and then the right water filtration system must be put into place.
